Kemps Creek Cemetery is set on 10 hectares of colonial parklands in Western Sydney, only 15-minutes drive from Penrith, Fairfield and Blacktown. The rural setting has tranquil lake views and landscaped gardens, surrounded by native bushland.
Within the grounds of Kemps Creek Cemetery is Sydney’s first eco-burial area, Sydney Natural Burial Park. It offers a simple and sustainable resting place with minimal disturbance to the natural environment. The grounds are maintained without chemicals and remains are prepared with natural fibres and biodegradable coffins, to encourage growth and protect the habitat of local wildlife.
There are no formal headstones or monuments and each grave is mapped and surveyed using GPS technology, to record its location for future visits. You may hold a memorial service in the simple wooden pavilion, or take time to reflect on the grounds of the bushland sanctuary.
The cemetery serves all religious and cultural denominations, with affordable burials and cremations available. An annual pilgrimage to the cemetery and blessing of the graves is held on the first Sunday after All Souls’ Day, where families can celebrate after the service with a picnic on the grounds.
